Road Rovers

Episode 1:  Hunter's Rise

--DETROIT MICHIGAN--

Everyone was gathered in the COBO Center for the North American International Auto Show.  Cars from around the world were shown to the visitors, and one was the most important to them.

Rover Industries, a hot shot brand based in Burbank.  The creator, Max O'Millan, was inspecting his new Off-Road Rover, which he plans to make in two flavors, a civilian model and a military model with weapons installed.

"So,  about ready for the big reveal," a voice said as a man wearing a stuntman's suit came in.  The only wierd thing about him was one thing, he wasn't human.  He was a golden reciever.  His brown eyes were looking at Dr. Riley as he was holding his favorite toy, a tennis, ball, in his hands.

"Hunter, you made it.  It'll be ready soon.  Shame it will be an hour before reveal time.  And you'll be testing this new thing on Michigan International Speedway," Max said.

"Cool.  I was always needing a break from the super hero business," Hunter said.

"I know what you mean, Hunter.  In fact, I remember the events leading to you becoming a Road Rover," Max said.

--AREA 51, ONE YEAR AGO (SEVEN IN DOG YEARS)--

Max was polishing a wierd machine when another man came in.

"Nice, Max.  The Transdogmifier looks shiny," the man said.

"Thanks, Professor.  I want this thing to shine if we want to attract a government contract," Max said.

"You don't have to call me that.  Call me Sheperd," Sheperd said.

At the test, Sheperd demonstrated the Transdogmifier as Max put a cat in the machine.  As it worked, he became human, but that was when the experiment went all wrong.

"What did you do to me?  I feel great," the "Felin Sapien" said as he smashed a table with his new robotic arm.

"Wait, this is not part of the experiment," Sheperd said, when the man grabbed him by the neck.

"Thanks to you, I can seek out my ultimate desire.  For so long, children have kicked me around and dogs bullied me out of scraps, making me hungry.  But this will all change starting today.  I will take your Transdogmifier and make your dogs into my loyal army, an army I will use to take over the world," the felin sapien said.

"You're mad," Sheperd said as everyone ran, Max included.

"Oh, I'm not mad! I Parvo, general of a new world order," the felin sapien said as the doors slammed.

--LOS ANGELES, THE NEXT YEAR--

Max was sitting in his chair.  He had started a vehicle business since Sheperd's death.  He has perfected the Transdogmifier, but has kept it from the public eye ever since.

"Okay, I got the Street Rover finished, so now I need to hire a stunt driver," Max said as a golden reciever came in.

"Hey, Hunter.  What's up," Max said, with Hunter barking.

Suddenly, Cano Mutants broke into his office as Parvo came in.

"You.  You're Parvo," Max said.

"How nice of you to remember me.  I know you chose me to take on my glorious form, and I need to thank you more properly," Parvo said as he started coughing.

"Whoa, nasty cough there.  Here, take this," Max said, giving Parvo a lozenge.  Parvo takes it and smiles.

"Mmm, orange flavored.  I have to get me some of these when this is over.  Now then, I want you to help me rule the world, and in return, I will let you rule some of it in return.  Maybe the Pacific region of this oh-so-grand country," Parvo said.

"Forget it.  I won't side with the mad catman who killed my mentor," Max said.

"Hey, I know we had that little setback a year ago, but you should think about this.  You're be a king among these insects, some who despise your little Street Rover.  I mean, the models you made for the L.A.P.D. are impressive," Parvo said.
"My answer is no.  The vehicles I make are for one purpose:  to protect and better human life, not to destroy and conquer it," Max said.
"Oh, come on.  It'll be fun," Parvo said as he grabbed Max's hand.  That prompted Hunter to bite it.
"Oh, how nice.  You have a new addition for my army.  I know your little secret," Parvo said as he threw Hunter into the Transdogmifier.
"Hunter," Max said as he ran, with the Cano Mutants grabbing him.
"Don't mourn for him, Max O' Millan.  When this is over, you will see I am greater than any miliary force on this planet," Parvo said as he activated the machine, and Hunter's form changed.
After a minute, the machine stopped, and it opened, a now human-like Hunter falling onto his knees as Parvo stood over him.
"Now, my dear Hunter, speak," Parvo said.
"That's too easy.  Maybe you should think of something else," Hunter said as he stood up.
"What?  You are a Cano Mutant.  You shouldn't speak human," Parvo said, shocked of this.
"Cano Mutant?  Is that some kind of new movie?  Hey, Max," Hunter said as he helped him up.
"After a whole year, it worked.  Hunter, you have become a Cano Sapien," Max said as the two hugged.
"So, that reject is still loyal?  Fine, we'll find another way to make you change your mind," Parvo said as the Cano Mutants started to trash the office.
"Hunter, you can stop them," Max said as a Cano Mutant came at them.
" I dunno about that," Hunter said as he ran with Max in his hands.  He saw his speed was increased a lot, leaving a trail of fire where he went.  That set off the fire alarm and the sprinkers were activated, scaring Parvo.
"Super speed.  Very clever, Max.  I may be one who hates water, but my Cano Mutants will hunt you down," Parvo said as he jumped onto a ship.
In the lab, Max was getting an antidote ready while Hunter got dressed in a Rover Industries Secruity uniform and looked at the weapons.
"Now that was an unexpected twist.  I mean, we get invaded and now your business is going to be wrecked?  Bummer," Hunter said.
"Not if we can help it," Max said as he loaded the antidote into a gun and gave it to Hunter.
"So, what's the plan," Hunter said.
"Take this gun.  It has the antidote to turn these Cano Mutants back to regular dogs.  Don't worry, it won't affect Cano Sapiens," Max said.
"Whoa, you mean I can play hero," Hunter asked.
"You bet.  With your super speed, you can nail them and not get nailed yourself," Max said as he opened the door.
"Okay, Master, I'll be the hero," Hunter said as he ran.
The police surrounded the area and met with Cano Mutant resistance.  An officer was looking scared as the police chief looked, his german sheperd looking on unfazed.
"Uh, sir, I don't think they're vandals in stolen costumes.  They're real dogs," the officer said, hiding under the police car.
"Do you think I don't know that?  Ever since the military screwed up this Trans-pooch-a-ma-call-it experiment, the world is facng this growing threat of dogs being kidnapped by that mad terrorist and being mutated.  Besides, Blitz needs a new chew rug," the chief said, releasing Blitz.
As Blitz bit one of the Cano-Mutant's rear ends, it was unfazed as it grabbed Blitz by the neck.
"What the...?  Those monsters are tougher than we thought," the chief said, looking scared when a dart hit the mutant, injecting the antidote and turning back into a poodle.  Hunter stood there with the antidote gun, and the chief saw him.
"Whoa, that Cano Mutant saved us," the chief said.
"You bet.  Now make sure the citizens are safe," Hunter said as the officer pointed his gun.
"Okay, boy, now surrender and we won't....," the officer said as the chief whacked him over the head.
"Stand down.  This one is a friendly.  He saved Blitz and he speaks our language," the chief said as Hunter went on.

--A DAY LATER--

"And so, thanks to you Los Angeles has been saved.  I wonder if we can call upon you to save the day again," the president said.

"You bet.  I'll do anything to save innocent dogs and humans, and Max agrees too," Hunter said.

"And on the topic, Mr. O'Millan, as president, I think you should having more dogs become these super-powered heroes.  Your Transdogmifier has succeeded, and with more like Hunter, the world may finally be rid of General Parvo and his Cano Mutant threat," the president said.

"Will do, sir," Max said.

--PRESENT DAY--

Hunter was driving the Off-Road Rover on the track and dodging obstacles.  When finished, he got out and removed his helmet.  The people cheered for him.

"It's Hunter, the heroic dog man that saved Rover Industries," a kid said.

Pictures were taken, but when Max and Hunter got home, they saw a German Sheperd posing nude.

"Oh, yes. Master, Max never mentioned I'd get such awesome muscles," the dog said as he kissed them.  He saw the two and freaked out, getting a tablecloth to cover himself.

"Blitz, is that you," Max said.

"Oh, Max, I saw the test, and I guess I should explain about our warrantless break-in," the police chief said, embarrased he was caught.
